Show Review: “Keeping up with the Collucccis.” (6-6-2025)
I’m finally so happy to have a place where I can write and share my thoughts and pictures without fear of being censored or limited
It’s giving me space to rethink how I photograph and talk about Arkansas Drag, Drag in general and Drag/Queer culture (they are not the same) her in Little Rock and beyond.
I’ve always had custody of my kiddo on the night of Collucci shows, and so Ive always had to miss.
But a recent change in that schedule is allowing me to access all sorts of different Drag
I saw my first “Hard Candy” show on Wednesday.
And this show was my first Collucci show.
Sure, id seen some of the performers, before.
And ”Dilly” was on the lights (IYKYK), which is always funnn for me as a photographer.
Beyond that, though, everything at the show was new.
The rhythms of the music were different, more sexual, more physical, more fluid. Calming, settling, comfortable.
The colors in the fits… I failed to capture that in these photographs, and so I need to level up my photos skills to really show you what a Collucci show is like
I talk about drag being an art form that allows artists and performers to express their identity.
For so many performers and artists that identity wrap its arms around an entire culture
Hispanic culture – Hispanic identity – is under attack right now in our state and country. It was very cathartic to celebrate Hispanic Queerness last night.
Sway is the only Queer club in Little Rock that I know of that holds space for Hispanic Drag (Keeping up with the Colluccis)…. Black Drag (Diamonds and Pearls)…..Lesbian Drag (Titties and Queers)
And that kind of inclusion in a club is rare: certainly in Little Rock.
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments about the Collucci show last night or any thoughts about dragged performed by Hispanic artists.
